I have one question about this assignment. I noticed in the examples you showed us, there was at least one person in each picture. Do we still have to find strangers, and if so, do we just take a picture of them while they're doing something without telling them, or do we ask them to read a book?

Basically, how do we go about getting four pictures of a stranger?

Well, it depends ... we're doing journalism, stories about people, in general. So having people in your photos is very important. When you find the scene you want to shoot, approach the person or people, tell them what you're working on, and then ask them to ignore you.

Seems silly, but it's the way we do it.

Can it be someone we know or does it still have to be a complete stranger?

It should be someone you don't know. For ethics reasons, we don't report on - or photograph - people with have an association with.
