Composition Assignment

This National Georgraphic photo is clean and colorful. (Although my favorite photo of the year is this one, which might get on others' nerves because his hand is cut out of the frame. I'm really just looking for an excuse to share it with someone, since none of my friends cared when I showed it to them last March.)

The photo is bad. The caption is a different matter entirely. It's hard to decide what to look at in this photo. There are random blurry objects in the foreground, and the firefighter is behind bars.

With photos like this, is it just luck? How difficult is it to have control over composition when in a plane or helicopter?

The first national geographic picture is awesome! I love how the little girl is framed so nicely by the soldiers on either side. It is also really cool how the colors of the little girl's clothes and the flower stand out so much more because of the grey uniforms on either side. very cool moment.

LOVE the first photo. Great framing, and LOVE how the blue pops. I don't love the second photo either, seems like it should have been a night shot to go with the caption. Not sure how I feel about the third photo.

The first photo I really like. It was really well framed and your eye goes straight to the little girl because of the contrast of her jacket and their uniforms.
